I usually don't revel in the death of those with whom I disagree, but this time, I'll make an exception.
Yes, I'm sure he did some nice things and had a sense of humor, but his views on choice, gay rights, and the Arts were abhorrent. His contribution to the rise of Regan doesn't exactly win him points with me either

Obamarama
So it's official, Obama v. McCain in the big smackdown of November '08.
I don't share my sister's hope in this matter. I'm a bit more pragmatic about these things, and I want Obama to win to protect some of our basic fucking liberties.
Do I think he's the second coming of FDR? No, but he's less likely to appoint Supreme Court Justices that are going to strip away our reproductive rights, or be outright hostile to our civil liberties.
He won't do much for gay rights (I don't think he'll do anything against them either, but I want progress, not stagnation), and I'm pessimistic on what can be done to end theclusterfuck war that we've been illegally drawn into.
It's also a bit of basic math: President Obama will probably do about one to four things in a month that I'm not crazy about, and will really piss me off about three or four times a year. President McCain will do about four things a week that really piss me off.
As a comparison, when Dubya opens his mouth and says anything at all, I get really pissed off.

Political Endorsements
American politics is often like watching a Dennis Hopper movie. You know that you'll either hate it, or enjoy it despite the feeling that something is eating away at your soul.
Keeping this in mind, I hereby endorse Barak Obama for President.
Will this make a difference to anyone? No. He's not a perfect candidate (I don't like his stand on same sex partner marriage, and I don't think he'll go far enough on health care), but he's better than the alternative (she's great and all, but she there's to much baggage, she plays fast and loose with the rules, and we don't need another political dynasty) , or the unthinkable (McCain? Does any one really think that's a good idea?).
For Senate I endorse Steve Novick, because his politics are pretty good, and what better way to say fuck you to the Republicans by replacing Gordon Smith with a four foot tall liberal with a hook for a hand.
