So Sadimac's show opens tomorrow night, and last night they had the prerequisite last minute disaster.
One of the final set pieces was being screwed into a wall, and instead of wall, the screw hit a pipe. The kind that water flows through.
What started as an aggressive drip soon became what Sadimac describes as "Unreal, like something out of a movie," with water roaring out (a cartoonish BOOSH! sound effect was used for emphasis) at wildly varying temperatures. A reported 30 or more buckets or water were bailed as the crew kept turns trying to control the water coming out of the pipe, and keeping it away from the set.
Eventually a plumber came in and stopped the water, and victory over The Great Theatre Flood of '08 was achieved. My sweetie was soaking wet, and needed a drink. I'm immensely proud of her, and the show has been disaster proofed.
Let the show go on!
