Job

So, I need a new job.

Really horrible things have happened in the last week or so at the job, so it's time to leave, and to quite possibly set the place on fire as I walk out.

Problem is, I'm not leaving without "the new job", and here's where it gets very hard, because I am very bad at getting jobs. Not just bad, but awful, terrible, never found one the traditional way. Every job I've ever had (with the exception of one short term temp job) was found by the following process:

"Hey , my friend Xithor needs a job"

"Okay, what's he good at?"

"Computers, pretending he likes customers, organizing stuff, that kind of thing"

"Does he bathe?"

"Yes, although he does look a bit disheveled from time to time."

"That's fine. Can he start on Thursday?"

That's how it's worked for years. I've tried the normal way, and it never works. I actually interviewed for (Big Local Bookstore).com earlier this year; I was very qualified, rocked the interview, and was supremely confident that I had the job.

They never even called back. I've been applying since then to many other places, and nothing, not even a nibble.

Anybody want to hire a geek?

ugh. so suck. After the talk we had over the weekend I was expecting you to launch a full fledged search. Just flood out resumes and applications bro.

You can do it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in search mode. I'm just dreading it, thats all.

Sorry it's gotten so bad, but you have been wander-looking for awhile now. I hope you can find something that is more like a career then a job. No help, just encouragement and Love. Mom

That just sucks out loud.
But if you paper Portland with resume's and applications, I bet the best geek job ever will show up.
Sometimes it sucks to be the grownup, doesn't it?

The Powell's human resource lady has been courting you since this, though.

And listen to your mother, wait to find something you enjoy and can grow with.
