I got through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in a day. It's the first book I've been able to read at a decent speed in years.
I used to read a lot, about one or two books a week or so. Sometimes a book would take me longer (I spent about a month on Dune the first time through), or I would burn through them (I could go through a crappy D&D fantasy novel in half a day when I set my mind to it). But now, I can barely crack one open, and when I do, it takes forever to get through. For example, I reread Fear and Loathing n Las Vegas for about the fifth time about two months ago, and it took me two fracking weeks.
It's the bookstore. I see little bricks of profit rather than something of literary value. I look at my copy of The Great Gatsby and I don't think of it as one of my favorite books, but as something that lists at about $2.00 in the Follett text book guide.
I'm hoping that the pace I read HP7 breaks the block. I miss my books, and there are dozens piled up that have been recommended that I've been unable to touch.

I read books the same way! I'd be destroyed if I couldn't look at them like that, anymore
Read Away Xithor! I hope you broke the barrier...
